Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships that will open up new economic opportunities for the people of Ekiti State.

Ekiti News reports that Governor Oyebanji made this statement, on Tuesday, during an intervention programme organised in support of MSMEs by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

The Governor noted that many individuals possess the necessary integrity, skills, education, resilience, and work ethic but lack opportunities to showcase their abilities, hence his administration’s support for MSMEs through public-private partnership initiatives and collaborations with development agencies to create prospects for such individuals while the State also provides financial aid, training programs, local content policies and easier market access.

Governor Oyebanji therefore urged the people to take full advantage of the opportunities being provided through SMEDAN.

The Director General of SMEDAN, Mr. Charles Odii, in his remarks at the event lauded the Governor’s passion for developing MSMEs and enhancing sustainable economic development in Ekiti State.

He explained that SMEDAN’s intervention is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s determination to boost the country’s economy by helping businesses with guidance, resources, opportunities, and workforce support.

Odii revealed that SMEDAN has already trained over 50 business owners in Ekiti State in diverse fields including catering, fashion, and photography. SMEDAN also provided them with N50,000 each and the necessary tools to grow their businesses.

Ekiti State Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mrs Omotayo Adeola, in her remarks said the intervention was a testament to the dedication and collaborative effort of Governor Oyebanji’s administration aimed at boosting the economic landscape of the state and ensuring the shared prosperity agenda of the Governor.
