In a determined effort to curb criminal activities in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, joined by Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, engaged in a series of high-level discussions with service chiefs and top officials from the nation’s security agencies today.
Expressing concern over the recent surge in criminal incidents in Ekiti, a state renowned for its peace, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the need to address the security challenges.
Ekiti News reports that the governor called for the safe release of abducted school pupils and teachers, the apprehension of those responsible for the murders of two traditional rulers, and the eradication of criminal elements from Ekiti’s forests and communities.
To realize these objectives, Governor Oyebanji underscored the necessity for increased security presence and empowerment measures for the local security network, Amotekun.
Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, affirmed a commitment to enhance military presence and provide additional support to tackle the security challenges in Ekiti State.
