The President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to apprehend all individuals involved in the recent incidents in Ekiti and ensure they face the full force of the law.

President Tinubu gave the directive in response to Monday’s gruesome murder of two monarchs by armed men along Oke Ako-Irele road and abduction of some primary school pupils in Emure Ekiti.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun revealed this directive during the visit of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, to the Inspector General of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The meeting aimed to address the incidents and find a lasting solution.

In a statement released on Thursday, February 1, 2024, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP expressed the unwavering commitment of the Force to tackle the challenge, ensuring the swift apprehension of the perpetrators and the safe rescue of the kidnapped pupils.

Furthermore, the IGP has ordered the deployment of a Police helicopter, Armored Personnel Carriers, IRT and STS operatives, as well as Police Mobile Force personnel, to reinforce the existing manpower in Ekiti for special operations.
