Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has declared 2-days farmer’s training open in Ikere Ekiti through his commissioner for Agric and food Security, Hon Ebenezer Boluwade, Ekiti News reports.

The 2days Capacity Training for farmers in Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 with the theme: ‘AGRICPRENEUR – Building Self Reliance and Sustainability in crop production and Animal Husbandry’ is organised and sponsored by Hon (AVM Rtd) Ojuawo Rufus Adeniyi, the honourable member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1.

In his Welcome asdress, Hon Ojuawo welcomed guest and the participants to the 2 days training on self reliance and sustainability in crop production.

He said, ‘‘I thank his Excellency Biodun Oyebanji for supporting us in all our programmes, it gear us to do more. Without a doubt, we need to embark fully on Agriculture programmes to prevent hunger and more importantly to bring income to our household.

“Agricultural Economy is one of the pillar of our State and we must tap into this and turn it to source of income for our people. Else, this training is to open our knowledge on most of food crop such as Tomatoes, Okro, Pepper, Vegetable, Cucumber, Water Melon and etc.

“Our selected participants are for pilot programme and we’ll build on their process from time to time. I implored all the participants to listen attentively to their lectures, this is not going to be theory alone; we shall go into cluster farming in the next few weeks to put our training into practise”.

In the same vein, Hon Folorunso Olabode Commissioner for Local govt and Chieftaincy Affair appreciates Hon Ojuawo for this kind of empowerment that will go a long way to solve most of our grassroots Problems.

He said, “when hungers is out of our problem, we are bound to make meaningful progress.

“I encourage the participants to use the training as means of development and discovery.”

Also Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment , Otunba Kayode Fasae thanked Hon Ojuawo for creating wealth by empowering farmers through training, subsidy, and input to cultivate crop production.

He said, “Farming is very lucrative and we must invest in agricultural produce for food sufficiency and grow our economy in Ekiti State.

On his remark, Governor Biodun Oyebanji who was ably represented by Hon Ebenezer Boluwade, commissioner for Agric and food Security said agricultural revolution in the country has come to stay and we shall not lack behind.


He said, ‘‘I must say with emphasis agricultural revolution has come to stay and we in Ekiti must form synergy through creative thinking to turn our fallow land to arable crop in clusters.

“The state government is ready to assist in area like tractorisation and other support where neccessary.

“I’m delighted with your initiatives to encourage our people to key to self-sufficiency through agricultural produce, it will banish hunger, create jobs, and bring income to us at the grassroots’, Hon Boluwade declared the training opened.

The particpants for the 2days training programme which commence today were drawn from 32 wards in Ekiti South Federal Constituency consists of Ikere/Ise -Orun/Ekiti South West.

At the opening of the training were, APC Party Chairmen, from the Ekiti South Federal constituency 1, Ikere Farmer Association Chairman, Engr Gbenga Omole, Hon Tony Adaramodu, Hon Tunde Omotayo, Hon Tunde Idowu, Hon Deji Ajayi, Mr Adebiyi Fashoyin TA, Change Management,Mr Adebola Alagbada and others.
