Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State on Sunday evening, observed Iftar (breaking of Ramadan fast) with Muslim faithful in Ekiti State at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado Ekiti.
Ekiti News reports that the event was attended by Muslim leaders, public servants and heads of Islamic organizations in the state.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the Muslim community for their unwavering prayers, support, and affection towards his administration, highlighting their role in maintaining religious harmony in the state. He emphasized that this peaceful coexistence had significantly contributed to the state’s development.
Underlining the importance of love and unity among followers of different faiths, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the pivotal role of Muslims in fostering peace, unity, and mutual understanding in society. He stressed that their actions and attitudes should consistently reflect the values of compassion and tolerance taught by Islam.
He encouraged them to utilize the ongoing Ramadan season as an opportunity to continue praying for the development of the state and the nation as a whole.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Muslim faithful for your unwavering support for our government. Your overwhelming support before, during, and after the elections has been remarkable, and my prayer is that I will not let you down.
“I urge our people to nurture the love that exists between the different religious groups in the state because when there is love, the state will prosper. I firmly believe that in Ekiti State, we are united,” the Governor affirmed.
