Ekiti State Government has approved the immediate rehabilitation of 121 boreholes spread across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 22 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) with a sum of N159,542,787.33 (one hundred fifty nine million, five hundred and forty two thousand, seven hundred and eight seven naira, thirty three kobo only).
Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Commissioner for Information, revealed that this decision was reached during the recent State Executive Council meeting held at the Executive Council Chamber, New Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.
The task will be undertaken by the Ekiti State Small Towns, Rural Water Supply, and Sanitation Agency using direct labor, with a completion target of two weeks.
This initiative is part of the Sustainable Urban Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (SURWASH), supported by the World Bank under the Performance for Result Financing (P for R) scheme.
Under this program, the World Bank will disburse $19.00 per person for the expected over 30,000 citizens who will benefit from the improved water supply.
