Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the First Lady of Ekiti State, has urged all residents of the state, regardless of their status, to participate in farming activities as a way to alleviate the impact of the current economic challenges.
Ekiti News reports the Governor’s wife made this statement while planting vegetables in her garden at the Government House, Ayoba Villa, in Ado Ekiti.
The First Lady explained that the initiative to cultivate gardens at every home is spearheaded by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu which was needed to cushion the effect of the current hardship.
She noted that bags and containers could as well be used to grow food crops if there were no space to cultivate a garden around the house.
Dr. Oyebanji added that such activity remained an avenue to exercise the body and promote healthy living through consumption of organic food crops.
The governor’s wife was accompanied by by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade; Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr Oyeniyi Adebayo and Commissioner for Investment, Trade and Industry, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola.
