…Joins family to celebrate maternal grandfather, Pa Sanni Adeyeri
The family of a renowned Community Leader and maternal grandfather of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, late Pa Sanni Adeyeri, yesterday celebrated the life and time of their partriarch, with the number two citizen, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, identifying peace, love and unity, as the best ingredients required to build a nation.
Flowing from this, Mrs Afuye, appealed to Adeyeri’s Clan and the Ikere- Ekiti in general to cultivate the spirit of love, peace and unity to develop the community and make it a microcosm of development in the State.
The colorful event, greeted with fanfare, held at Iro quarters, Ikere Ekiti, was attended by family members and community leaders across the town to remember the worthy life of their progenitor and father of Olori Esther Iyalaje Adegboye, who is the direct mother of the Deputy Governor.
Mrs Afuye gave the charge while speaking as a Special Guest of Honour at the maiden edition of an historic event christened: ‘Adeyeri Dynasty Day’, organised by the descendants of late Pa Sanni Adeyeri in Ikere Ekiti, on Friday.
The Deputy Governor, who praised the family for standing by her during the election that brought her into office, disclosed that history recorded it that the late patriarch, born around 1870, was an epitome of honesty, loyalty and hardwork, during his lifetime.
She said without sounding immodest, Adeyeri’s Family, has grown to become notable, worthy, outstanding and forthright in Ikere Ekiti, and was deemed respectable in character , morality and accomplishments, advising the descendants to protect that long-standing honour.
Mrs Afuye described the event as a recall of history and celebration of indelible and life-touching contributions of Pa Adeyeri, with the sole aim of serving as a guide for his descendants and his ardent admirers.
She stated that going by history, she felt highly proud and elated that her mother , is a direct daughtet of this great man, who was an itinerant and popular SOLDIER, moving from one region in the country to another in the course of serving his country.
She said though the hero had died long ago, but the good works he undertook are still making significant influences in the lives of his people, adding that many of the man’s children had been recognised and respected as great community leaders, academics, accountants and entrepreneurs.
She appealed to the family members to allow the principles of forthrightness, unity, love, oneness, fraternity, and brotherhood to bond them together, so that the life and time of this great man and his legacies can be sustained through joint efforts.
In his contributions, the Head of the family, Pastor Thomas Ige Adeyeri, commended the members over their desire and glowing passion to sustain the legacies of their patriarch.
Pastor Adeyeri, represented by Pastor Olajide Adeyeri, disclosed that the annual celebration, was specifically conceptualised to keep late Chief Adeyeri’s positively impactful legacies alive, saying it would be a great disservice to allow their partriarch’s rich and influential history to go into extinction.
The Octogenarian leader, urged his family members not to deviate from the path of honour laid by their forebears, who fought gallantly to advance development, unity, progress and fought hard to protect the sovereignty of the nation .
He charged the members to allow unity, love and unity to be deeply rooted among them, so that the family can remain eternally relevant and respetable in the town.
Pastor Adeyeri stated that the family has started offering scholarships to indigent students among them and also lending helps to the poor, assuring that these lofty policy shall continue to put their wards on a higher pedestal of academic and vocational ladder.
In his words of exhortation at the event, a Priest of Anglican Church, Ven. Sunday Alabi, who quoted copiously from the Songs of Psalms, Chapter 133 verses 1- 3, stressed the need for the family to be united for their present and future to be great and rewarding.
The Cleric saluted the family for for being distinguishable and outstanding in intellect and thinking to organise an event to celebrate their hero.
