The Ekiti State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of Dr. Olufunke Fajobi and Dr. Barr. Joshua Adeoye Olukayode as commissioners for the State Universal Basic Education Board.
Additionally, the Assembly confirmed Dr. James Folorunso as the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement.
During the plenary session, Hon. Jacob Awoniyi (Moba II), Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science, and Technology, reported that the committee extensively interacted with the Commissioner-nominees.
He stated that from their observations, both nominees had previously served as State Universal Basic Education Board Commissioners.
Hon. Awoniyi further emphasized that the Committee found both nominees to be worthy, fit, and suitable for appointment. Additionally, the Committee highlighted the necessity for amendments to the laws governing the operations of the Board.
Hon. Femi Fatunla (Ikole I), Chairman of the House Committee on Sustainable Development Goals & Due Process, characterized Dr. James Babasola Folorunso, the nominee for the position of Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, as a perfect fit for the role. He highlighted that the nominee possesses the necessary skills in the field of public procurement and demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of operational mechanisms.
The House also adopted the reports of the Committee on Investment, Trade and Industries on Ekiti State Management Bill, 2024 as rendered by the its Chairman, Hon.Tope Longe after scrutiny by the Committee of the whole House.
Speaking on the activities of the various Committee Chairmen and their Members, the Speaker, Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye commended the Committees for doing thorough job on their reports, he read some letters of commendation from the Party leaders, former Deputy speaker of the House, former Governor of Ekiti State commending the lawmakers on how they are moving Ekiti through their effectiveness and efficiency in the business of law making.
The Speaker made some special announcement in respect of the lined up programme for the proposed two days retreat of the House which scheduled to hold between 20th to 22nd February, 2024 at Ikogosi Ekiti.
