Ekiti News reports that Prince Babalola Adebomi, the Oba-elect of Araromi-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti state has been arraigned and detained for alleged forgery.
Prince Babalola was arraigned on Monday before the Federal High Court sitting in Akure.
According to the charge sheet marked FHC/AK/16/2024, the Oba-elect was charged with two counts. The charges pertain to the alleged act of forging a certificate purportedly from the University of Ibadan, which was subsequently presented to the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, in pursuit of employment in 2008.
Additionally, he was alleged to have forged a discharge certificate from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which was similarly presented to the University Teaching Hospital for employment purposes.
Prince Babalola, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. His Counsel, Attah Paul, told the court he had filed an application on notice.
However, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Itunun Osobu, noted that he had not yet reviewed the matters raised by the defendant’s counsel. Osobu stated his intention to present two witnesses to substantiate the charges.
The defendant’s counsel appealed to the court for bail, assuring that the defendant would comply with bail conditions.
Justice Owoeye in his ruling, ordered the defendant to be detained in the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
He adjourned the hearing till Thursday.
