It has become imperative than ever for Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, The Senate Leader, to lead other National Assembly Members from Ekiti State to complement Governor Oyebanji’s led administration effort.
Honestly speaking, the increasing rate of insecurity in Ekiti state is devastating and cannot be unconnected to the high rate of hunger in the land plus the lack of boosting morale for the security network in the state thereby leading to security fallout. The gruesome murder of two kings in the state yesterday, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola; and the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola is quite sad and devastating.
Governor Oyebanji who had presented patrol vehicles to the security personnels last year can be said to have taken a proactive and commendable step in preventing insecurity in the state. While he is expected to do more, the members of the National Assembly from Ekiti state should, as a matter of urgency do something to complement his effort in the overall interest of Ekiti state and its people.
In the neighbouring Ondo state, Hon. Abiola Peter Makinde, a member representing Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency in the House of Representative presented four patrol vehicles to the Police to boost the security network in his federal constituency, this commendable effort should be emulated by Ekiti State members of National Assembly.
It is important for Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and other Senators to Present at least five Patrol Vehicles for Amotekun while House of Representatives members should follow suit with three each and Motorcycles for boosting morale of members of the Amotekun security network. Every Senator and Rep Member in Ekiti State is capable of doing it.
Security of lives and properties of their respective Senatorial District and Constituency should be their topmost concern. And again, there is poverty in the land. Ekiti State is far behind amongst other states.
