Ekiti News reports that Stanbic IBTC Holdings, a member of the Standard Bank Group, has expanded its support by adopting an additional four public schools located in Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, and Borno States.
Stanbic IBTC, a prominent financial services provider in Nigeria, previously, as part of its Adopt-a-School Programme, also adopted Kurba Community Primary School in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State last year.
The recently adopted schools include Aramoko District School in Aramoko, Ekiti State; Magin Rafi Model Primary School in Tudun Wada, Sokoto State; Mala Kachallah Model School in Maiduguri, Borno State; and Methodist School in Mbiafun Nkwono Ikono, Akwa Ibom State.
Dr. Demola Sogunle, the Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC, revealed this information in a statement issued in Lagos. He emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance the quality of education in public schools across the country.
Sogunle noted that the organization’s commitment to the “Adopt-A-School” program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which strives for free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education for all children by 2030.
According to the CEO, Stanbic IBTC firmly believes that every child in Nigeria deserves access to quality education within conducive learning environments. Therefore, the “Adopt-a-School” policy is the company’s way of actively contributing to the development of individuals and institutions in the communities it serves.
Dr. Sogunle highlighted that through the adoption program, Stanbic IBTC has revitalized the adopted schools, transforming them into modern educational facilities that reflect the standards of the 21st century. This includes rebuilding classroom blocks, renovating toilets, furnishing classrooms and teachers’ offices, establishing computer laboratories, and providing essential digital resources to empower students.
Moreover, he mentioned that Stanbic IBTC has also extended its adoption to contribute to the country’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Dr. Sogunle reiterated that Stanbic IBTC’s overarching objective is to create a lasting positive impact through its various social intervention initiatives in the communities where it operates. He assured that the group remains committed to this cause for the betterment of both present and future generations.
