....as SEMA and NEMA Assess Damage.
A recent rainstorm that swept through Ipoti and some other parts of Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State, has caused extensive damage to buildings , blowing away roofing of residential buildings and leaving many residents counting their losses.
The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Red Cross have consequently launched an assessment exercise to evaluate the extent of the destruction as immediate response to the natural disaster in the State.
Leading the assessment team, the Chairman of Ekiti SEMA, Alh. Ademola Bello told the Olupoti of Ipoti Ekiti, Oba Oladipupo Kolade that the inspection of the damage followed a promise made by the State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye who promised to support the affected communities in the aftermath of the storm.
Alhaji Bello urged residents to adopt tree-planting as a means of mitigating the effects of heavy storms and preventing similar incidents in the future,
He emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness and risk management, encouraging communities to take proactive steps in reducing vulnerability to natural disasters.
Responding, the Olupotu of Ipoti , Oba Kolade commended the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for its swift response and proactive measures in addressing the effect of the rainstorm
The rainstorm, which struck on March 5, 2025, affected more than 200 buildings in Ipoti, Ejiyan, Owatedo and Odo-Owa,all in Ijero Local Government Area.
