Ekiti News reports that Kidnappers have allegedly abducted an unspecified number of travelers at the boundary between Ekiti and Ondo states.
The kidnappers reportedly ambushed the passengers between Ikere-Ekiti and Iju in Ondo State.
At the scene of the incident, two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a white Highlander, both riddled with bullets, were discovered.
The passengers are believed to have been taken into the forest around Iju.
According to a local source, the incident occurred on Thursday evening, and its details came to light on Friday morning when the bullet-riddled vehicles were discovered.
The source said the incident had been reported to the police.
Meanwhile, Olufunmilayo Odunlami, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer has confirmed the incident.
The police command stated that it could not confirm the exact number of people involved in the incident.
The Police Spokesperson disclosed that men from the anti-kidnapping section of the command swung into action soon after the report and have since been combing the forest.
Mrs Odunlami, however, stated that there has been no official report from the family or families of the owners of the two vehicles, and there was no report of missing people in the state.
She assured that the police would soon unravel what took place and rescue the victims if it was a case of abduction.
