St. George’s Catholic Church, Ijurin-Ekiti on Sunday was set agog as the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi graced the Thanksgiving Mass in honour of the lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency ll, Hon Biodun Omoleye
Also in attendance at this historic event are the Former Commissioner for Justice & Attorney-general, Barrister Wale Fapohunda (SAN),Founder of Venite University, Iloro-Ekiti,Hon. Dapo Kolawole & wife, former Commissioner for Land & Housing,Prince Olaosebikan,Prof. Adio Afolayan,Hon.(Mrs)Fola-Richie,serving and former state lawmakers, former and incumbent Council Chairmen, traditional rulers led by Owa Ajero of Ijero Kingdom,Oba Joseph Adewole, party Chieftains, Community leaders, family and friends.
The Thanksgiving Mass was organised by Omoleye to appreciate God and the people of his Constituency for their supports.
The Parish Priest,Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Oluwadare in his homily, urged Nigerians to seek the face of God and ask for God’s mercy upon our nation as we entered a new year.
Father Oluwadare described Omoleye as a blessing,not only to the church but also the entire Ijurin community.
In his remarks,the chief host,Ojurin of Ijurin-Ekiti,Oba Joachim Afolabi thanked the people of the town for their support for Omoleye during the last general election, even as he noted that the whole community, irrespective of political affiliation, came together to give their votes to the lawmaker.
Oba Afolabi who expressed appreciation to the former Attorney general and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Wale Fapohunda (SAN) for his age-long support to Omoleye, also said their friendship had been a blessing to Ijurin community.
In his vote of thanks, Omoleye said he was more excited seeing the large number of people who turned out for the event despite being the first day of the year.
“This is a test of faith. It is not easy to leave your house on the first day of the year for an occasion like this. Thank you for the show of love”.
The lawmaker said the Thanksgiving Mass was to appreciate God for what He has done in his life and as well as thank the people of his constituency for their support, before, during and after his election.
The former Chief of Staff also thanked governor Oyebanji for honouring him with his presence. He expressed gratitude to other dignitaries, traditional rulers, party members,the church of God, family and friends for their show of love.
Omoleye assured Nigerians that the new year would be a better one for the nation.
He informed the gathering that some of the federal roads in Ekiti State like Ado-Akure,Itawure-Osun boundary,Ikole-Omuo and Ado-Ifaki roads would receive government attention, stressing that provision had been made for them in the 2024 budget.
Omoleye called on his Constituents to continue to support the APC-led government both at the federal,state and local government levels.
Reception followed immediately after the Church Mass at the playground of Ijurin Comprehensive High School where Femi Glory Music Band entertained the guests.
