Ekiti State Government has approved over N600 million for the construction of perimeter fencing in public schools as part of its Safe School initiative.
In a statement signed by Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Commissioner for Information on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the Council approved N312.4 million for fencing Government College, Oye Ekiti; N195 million for Government College, Ado-Ekiti; and N97.6 million for United Comprehensive High School, Ise-Ekiti.
Additionally, the Council approved N222 million for the renovation of Deji Fasuan Model College, Ado-Ekiti, after an inspection revealed severe structural defects threatening the safety of students and staff.
The projects are to be executed by the Bureau of Special Projects through direct labour and are expected to be completed within six weeks.
According to the statement, the move aligns with the state government’s Safe School initiative to protect students and reduce security risks.
