Ekiti News reports that Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has congratulated a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who also served as Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Olatunji Odeyemi, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
The Governor congratulated Rt. Hon. Odeyemi on clocking 65 years on Sunday, March 3rd, commending him for living a purposeful and selfless life of service to the people of the state and to humanity.
This was contained in a goodwill message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Sunday, in Ado-Ekiti.
Governor Oyebanji noted that Rt. Hon. Odeyemi’s contribution to the development of Ekiti State would forever remain indelible in the anal of the history of the state.
The Governor said Rt. Hon. Odeyemi made a positive impact as a lawmaker who represented Gbonyin Constituency in the State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2011 during which he was elected Speaker of the Third Assembly.
He credited the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain for showing the right leadership when fate thrusted on his shoulders the governorship of the state in acting capacity for three months in 2009 following a Court of Appeal order for a governorship rerun election.
Governor Oyebanji, describing Rt. Hon. Odeyemi as a decent politician who plays politics without bitterness, hailed the celebrant for stabilizing the ship of the state during his time as acting Governor and making an impact within the short time.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State, we wish Rt. Hon Odeyemi a happy birthday and pray that God grants him many more fruitful years in the land of the living.”, the statement added.
The Governor prayed God to grant Rt. Hon. Odeyemi long life and good health for more selfless service to Ekiti State in years ahead.
