Ekiti State Government has approved over N10 billion for critical infrastructural projects aimed at improving transportation, reducing flooding, and enhancing educational facilities across the state.
At the virtual Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the Council approved N4.47 billion for the construction of Alanaka Road in Efon Alaaye, to be handled by Messrs Wals and Funs Nigeria Ltd.
The contractor is expected to deliver the project within 15 months.
In a statement signed by Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Commissione for Information on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the council also approved N1.17 billion for the rehabilitation of Ilawe-Igbaraodo-Ibuji Road, a route described as vital to the state’s socio-economic activities. The road, in poor condition, will be handled by Dromo International Ltd.
To tackle environmental issues, the Council approved N195 million and N54 million for the desiltation of drains and dredging of river courses in key towns like Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, Irepodun/Ifelodun and Ekiti West.
The approvals were part of Governor Oyebanji’s infrastructure drive aimed at boosting economic activities and safeguarding lives and property across Ekiti State.
The government reiterated its commitment to infrastructure renewal and flood prevention across the state.
