The First Lady of Okemesi/Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs. Feyisayo Betty Ajibade, has on Thursday 3rd July, 2025 empowered families with multiple births and elderly women in the council.
The event held at Okemesi-Ekiti featured the distribution of food items, cash support and Kid snacks packages containing various items aimed at complement already existing government programmes.
Mrs. Ajibade, while addressing the gathering, noted that the programme is a grassroots continuation of the vision of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whose national interventions have remained focused on uplifting women, children and families.
She explained that the initiative has also been embraced in Ekiti State by the wife of the Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, who has encouraged its domestication at the grassroots across all LGAs and LCDAs in the state.
Mrs Ajibade said, “this initiative is a continuation of the impactful vision of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who has remained committed to uplifting women, children and families through several laudable programmes.
“Here in Ekiti State, this vision has been adopted and brought closer to the people by our own First Lady, Her Excellency, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, who has continued to encourage these interventions at the grassroots level across all LGAs and LCDAs.
“Today’s empowerment exercise is a continuation of that noble effort. It is meant to ease the financial burdens of raising multiple children and to show appreciation to our elderly women who have laboured and contributed so much to family and community development over the years,” she said.
The empowerment packages distributed included:
Packaged food items such as rice, beans and gari
Cash gifts to beneficiaries
Kid snacks packages containing assorted items
Wheel crutches donated to an elderly woman with mobility challenges
Mrs. Ajibade added that the packages were designed not just to meet immediate needs but to inspire dignity and confidence among beneficiaries.
“Let me take a moment to emphasise that multiple births is not a burden, but a blessing from God. Families who are blessed in this way should not be left to carry the weight alone. They deserve encouragement and meaningful support.
“This is our way of saying: You are not forgotten. We care for you,” she stated.
The Okemesi/Ido-Ile LCDA First Lady also used the occasion to commend the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his inclusive leadership and continued prioritisation of grassroots development.
“I wish to appreciate our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his inclusive leadership and for always prioritising grassroots development. Your policies continue to bridge the gap between government and the people and we in Okemesi/Ido-Ile LCDA remain proud beneficiaries,” she noted.
The programme witnessed the presence of community leaders, LCDA officials, beneficiaries and well-wishers, who lauded the initiative as timely and impactful.
