The Executive Chairman of Okemesi/Ido-Ile Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ajibade Owolabi, has handed over bags of rice provided by the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, as palliatives aimed at alleviating the hardship caused by the removal of the oil subsidy.
Ekiti News reports that the handover ceremony took place recently, with representatives from the Federation of Okemesi Improvement Unions receiving the rice.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Owolabi commended Governor Oyebanji for his consistent efforts to support the people of Okemesi/Ido-Ile LCDA during these challenging times.
He noted that this distribution marks the fourth time in the past year that the state government has provided such assistance to the council.
The council boss emphasized the importance of the palliatives, stating that they are crucial in helping residents cope with the increased cost of living brought about by the subsidy removal.
Hon. Owolabi urged the recipients to ensure the equitable distribution of the rice among those most in need within their communities.
