The Chairman of the Ekiti State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Com. Kolapo Olatunde has denied the purported reports that labour leaders walked out on Governor Biodun Oyebanji at the negotiation meeting on the implementation of the new minimum wage.
Olatunde in a statement in Ado-Ekiti clarified that the federal government is working on the consequential adjustment for the N70,000 new minimum wage, the committee was inaugurated last week Friday.
Recall that there was a report that “Ekiti workers’ representatives walked out on Governor BAO as he refused to implement the ₦75,000 minimum wage, insisting that workers accept ₦55,000 instead.”
The Labour leader described the news as being far from the truth.
“The labour centres are working assiduously in ensuring perfect implementation of minimum wage for workers, hence the need to work in tune with the National Consequential adjustment salary table”
