Ifaki Progressives Union (IPU) has successfully conducted its elections, culminating in the election of a new National Executive Committee to lead the organization forward.
The elections, held on Saturday at Olufaki’s Palace amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm saw people of the community actively participate in the democratic process, exercising their right to vote and determine the future direction of their union.
Ekiti News reports that after a transparent and inclusive electoral process, Alhaji Sule Lanre Bakare emerged as the new National President of the union.
Other new Executive Members are; Mr. Olajide Ayodele Borode – National Vice President, Barr Durotimi David Owoeye – General Secretary, Babatunde Fakuade – Treasurer, Oluseun Rachael Layo-Ajayi – Welfare Officer, Aina Adekunle – Asst. National Secretary, Ayodeji Ayodele Ogunleye Miliki – Auditor, Oluwa Olaoluwa Lawal- Financial Secretary, Olufemi David Ogundaisi- PRO, and Organizing Secretary, Sesan Ojo.
The newly elected National President, Alhaji Sule Lanre Bakare, in his acceptance speech called upon all members of the community to unite and support the newly elected leadership in achieving success in the development of the community.
Alhaji Bakare emphasized that under his leadership, IPU will prioritize the establishment of a Database of Ifaki Sons and Daughters worldwide. He said the database will serve as a valuable resource for fostering connectivity and collaboration among members of the Ifaki community globally.
He announced that the union will embark on an Infrastructure Audit to assess the physical structures belonging to the Ifaki Community to identify areas for maintenance and improvement, ensuring that these assets are utilized optimally for the benefit of the community.
Alhaji Bakare outlined plans to establish a 10-Year Ifaki Development Agenda Committee that will comprise the Presidents and Secretaries of all social clubs in Ifaki and the Federation of Ifaki Students Union (FISU), tasked with developing a comprehensive long-term development plan for the community.
The Olufaki of Ifaki-Ekiti, HRM Oba (Dr.) John Adegbenro Falore, Ajigbade III, beseeched the outgoing Executive Members to ensure the wise counsel for new regime is sustained.
The Monarch thanked the electoral committee led by Chief Tayo Agbelese for conducting a free, fair and credible election that pave ways for the incoming regime.
As the new executive committee assumes office, there is optimism and anticipation for a period of progress, growth, and positive change for the Ifaki community under their leadership.
