…says no excuse for failure

It was indeed a well thought-out orientation and induction by Ekiti state government under governor Oyebanji to equip the newly elected local government administrators and top functionaries of various councils in the state with the working directions and vision and mission statements of the Oyebanji’s administration to better the lots of Ekiti people, especially those at the third tier of government.

Thanking Governor Oyebanji for organizing such a well-planned and properly coordinated retreat, ERO LCDA Chairman, Hon Mrs Felicia Ibiloye told the press after the three-day educative and enlightenment retreat that attending the retreat was a blessing to her ERO LCDA people as she is now well equipped than ever to make lives at the third tier of government a worthwhile.


The theme of the retreat was tagged “State and Local Government Strategic Planning and Implementation”

“I want to particularly thank H.E Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the people’s governor, first for believing in us as chairmen and major stakeholders in complementing his government to better the lives of our people at the local government, and for creating a forum such like this to intimate us with his policy direction and expectations at the third tier of government and to brainstorm thoroughly on how the state government can partner the local councils in the attempt to raise standard of the rural dwellers.
Mr governor equally charged us to be transparent and accountable to the people who elected us into office and to patronize local contractors whenever projects are being awarded and promised not to tamper with the local government allocation, “She said.

Speaking further, Hon Mrs Ibiloye said all is now set to return home and kick the ground running, noting that there won’t be excuse for failure as everything needed to operate effectively and efficiently have been promised by Mr governor.

Resource persons at the retreat included the Ekiti State commissioner for Local Government Affairs Hon Folorunso Olabode, immediate past senator of Ekiti North Senatorial district and Chief Economic Adviser to Ekiti State government Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi, Mr Niyi Adebayo, the Ekiti state commissioner for budget and economic planning, Dr Fagbenro Bryon from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Mr Nathaniel Olaoye, Chief Ben Oguntuase, Dr Ekundayo John and a host of others.

They Charged the newly elected local government administrators and top functionaries to key-in to the developmental agenda of governor Oyebanji’s administration in order to build a framework for effective partnership between the state and the local governments for operation devoid of division, so that the citizens could have value for their money.

The resource persons described the retreat as a strategic way of showing that the local government is strategic to the developmental plans of Ekiti state.

The three-day retreat which was declared open by H.E Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti state on Thursday the 18th came to an end today the 20th day of January, 2024

Present at the retreat were the chairmen of all the thirty eight local councils, their vices, secretaries, the Head of Local Administration across the councils and other top government functionaries.
