Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has called on the new political appointees in the state to prioritize teamwork towards guaranteeing the successful implementation of the six developmental pillars of his administration, Ekiti News reports.
Governor Oyebanji, speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, during a meeting with recently appointed political officials in Ado Ekiti, encouraged them to perceive their appointments as a call for dedicated service rather than personal aspirations.
The Governor stressed the need for them to view their appointment as a privilege and opportunity to serve the people rather than a pursuit of individual ambitions.
Governor Oyebanji who said that their appointments were based on merit and the perceived ability to deliver on the assignments given to them, however stressed his administration’s zero tolerance for non-performance and failure.
“I appeal to every one of you to take this responsibility seriously. I know that the task is onerous but winnable. Let us bond for the greater good and well-being of the people of our dear State. For me, this is a call for dedicated service rather than personal aspirations”, he said.
The governor added that in line with the spirit of equity and fairness, Government would insist on the production three years tax clearance before appointments were regularized, stressing that the issue of payment of tax remained a priority of the present administration and political office holders must lead by example.
Governor Oyebanji assured that his inclusive governance approach is all-encompassing. Nonetheless, he advised the political office holders to utilize the official channels of communication within the Public Service to maintain a smooth and orderly administrative structure.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe in his remarks advised the appointees to be civil in the discharge of their duties and shun actions that are inimical to the progress of the administration.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media/Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode gave the appointees the administrative convenience tips and advised them to be upright in their services to the people of the state and be loyal to the Governor.
