In response to doubts surrounding his ability to lead, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, pledged his commitment to deliver on his promises, affirming his dedication to the people’s welfare during a “thank you” visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council after his landslide victory in the June 18, 2022 governorship election.
“There is so much pessimism in the minds of some people. I am making it clear that I will not disappoint the people. If performing well is the only legacy I will leave behind, I will be happy”
Initially met with skepticism, Governor Oyebanji’s administration defied expectations by prioritizing collaboration with stakeholders regardless of political affiliations. His inclusive approach garnered support and facilitated progress across various sectors in line with his administration’s six pillars.
Moreover, Governor Oyebanji not only completed projects initiated by his predecessor but also continued implementing effective policies, earning praise from former Governor Fayemi, who acknowledged the seamless transition.
“Luckily for us this is a succession that is more palatable in the sense that everything I left, the Governor just took it from the point I left them” said the Dr. Kayode Fayemi at a recent retreat organized for members of Ekiti State House of Assembly at Ikogosi Warm Springs Resorts.
Embracing a spirit of unity, Governor Oyebanji fostered cordial relationships with his predecessors, receiving endorsements from Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, and Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for a second term. This unprecedented unity among past and present leaders has reshaped the political landscape, fostering a peaceful environment conducive to progress.
Through his transformative leadership and demonstrated commitment to governance, Governor Oyebanji has silenced skeptics and earned acclaim both within and beyond Ekiti State.
