Ekiti News reports that Professor Edward Olanipekun, the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, has revealed that the institution took disciplinary action against a professor for alleged plagiarism.

Prof. Olanipekun emphasized that the university stands firmly by its decision, which he stated should serve as a warning to others.

The Vice Chancellor made these remarks on Thursday during the university’s convocation ceremony.

At the 28th convocation, a total of 155 students graduated from the College of Postgraduate Studies. This cohort included 73 Ph.D. candidates, 81 Master’s students, and 1 Post Graduate Diploma recipient.

Professor Olanipekun, when addressing the issue concerning the erring professor, stated, “The paper he wrote with his colleague, which was published under both names, he proceeded to remove his colleague’s name, replaced it with his wife’s name, and submitted it to another journal.”

The Vice Chancellor added that the sanction against the professor subsists even when he (VC) leaves office in August at the expiration of his tenure.

“The professor has been saying a lot of things against us, but we are not bothered, we are committed to sanitizing the academic sector in the country,” he said.
