Ekiti News reports that Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, has reassured residents of Iworoko, Are, and Afao Ekiti that adjustments have been made to the Ekiti Ring Road Phase I to prevent the demolition of houses along the construction route in these communities.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the Commissioner emphasized the dedication of the Biodun Oyebanji administration to the overall welfare of the citizens while actively advancing the State’s development. He assured that the State Government is mindful not to undertake any actions that might compromise the economy, peace, and tranquility of the people.

The former Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, however, emphasized that the government would not compromise on standards. He clarified that, in line with international best practices, a ring road is defined as a road or a series of connected roads encircling a town, city, or country.

Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun emphasized that the most common purpose of a ring road is to assist in reducing traffic volumes in the urban center, such as by offering an alternate route around the city for drivers who do not need to stop in the city core.

According to the Commissioner, the focus is to develop the State and improve the lot of the people using efficient techniques, methods, processes or technology to contain the waste and keep people and the environment safe.


Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun solicited the continued support and understanding of all stakeholders, stressing the need for residents of the State to take ownership of projects in their respective domains with the culture of collective responsibility to protect their interests

In his remarks, Mr. Sola Adebayo, the State Commissioner for Works assured residents of Iworoko, Are, Afao and other communities along the proposed Ring Road that the restructuring is in their best interest and would not reduce any value accruable to their respective communities.

He said that the road would increase socio-economic activities in the communities and open them up for accelerated development.

Soliciting the support of all stakeholders for the successful completion of the Ring Road project, Adebayo stressed that the people’s continuous support for Government’s effort to develop the State is germane to attaining the desired goals.
