The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has described Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi as most fitting for his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu as the Pioneer Chairman-Designate of the South West Development Commission (SWDC).

The SWDC stemmed from an Act of the National Assembly, which the President recently assented to, as a push for development at the subnational level.

In a statement signed by Babajide Agbeyo,
Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker, Aribasoye stated that Senator Adetunmbi’s appointment affirmed his cerebral prowess, depth of experience, leadership capabilities, and undoubted competencies, which present him as a capable hand to drive the development of the Southwest region.

“Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi is deep and meticulous. Having prominently and creditably performed as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, coupled with his mastery of his field as a development economist, he would certainly do well in galvanising human and other resources within the Southwest region as the pioneer Chairman of the Southwest Development Commission.” The Speaker affirmed.

Rt. Hon. Aribasoye, who doubles as the Chairman of the Southwest Conference of Speakers, envisaged a pleasant time working with Adetunmbi for the progress of the Southwest.

“As the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Southwest Nigeria, I look forward to working with Senator Adetunmbi to further foster outstanding development in the region through the instrumentality of regional integration, cross-fertilisation of ideas, and uniformity of purpose.

“It is encouraging that the Southwest Conference of Speakers is already working out modalities to ensure there is uniformity of legislation on issues touching areas of common interest for the development of Southwest Nigeria.” He noted.

Aribasoye added, “I enjoy quite an intimate relationship with Senator Adetunmbi, whose intellectual contributions I strongly admire. He is no doubt a pride to our dear state, and I’m confident he will make the state proud, and even the region and the nation at large.”

The lawmaker prayed for God’s wisdom, guidance, and illumination for the former Senator as he commences the new assignment in due course.
