Comrade Oluseyi Babatunde Olatunde, the State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ekiti State chapter has welcomed all staff of the Ekiti State Local Government Service into the new year.

Ekiti News reports that Comrade Olatunde appreciates God for bringing us into the new year safely, noting that making it into the new year is by the grace of almighty God, who has in His in infinite mercy considered us all worthy to be alive to witness the 2024 year.

He notes that the 2023 year was eventful and filled with a lot of challenges. But the Union was able to overcome all the challenges, courtesy of some dignitaries, within the government, the political class in Ekiti State, our veterans and leaders of thought in the Union and many other stakeholders.

He said, “I appreciate the Governor of the State, H.E Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) for his sterling performances in the State and for his good deeds for the Local Government Service in the State.

“It should be placed on records that there has hardly been any proposal we place before His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) that has not received positive and favourable attention of Mr Governor.

“To say it has never been this good in the local government system and service is not an overstatement, rather a representation of the reality.”

The State President added, ”I also wish to acknowledge the efforts of our veterans using Comrade (Honourable) Segun Onaade, the Commissioner representing the Union in the Local Government Service Commission board, for standing by the Union at all times. He and other veterans have always been a mentors and a role models, always worthy of emulation.

“Also deserving of commendation are our amiable Permanent Secretary, Mrs Toba Ojo, our Executive Secretaries, Heads of Local Government Administration and Directors across all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas. Your contributions are immense and can not but be acknowledged”.

The State President commends all members for their cooperation, support and encouragement in the 2023 year and previous years, adding that the numerous achievements of the Union under his watch as the State President is largely by the help of almighty God and the overwhelming support received from members of the Union across the State.

The State President promised to continue to serve the Union meritoriously and sacrificially, while continuing to fight doggedly in the overall welfare interest of all members.

‘I am using this opportunity to reiterate my commitment to put in my best to serve the interest of all staff. More than I have ever done, I shall fight for your interest, see to your welfare and ensure that the best bet for sustenance and continual improvement of our service is achieved,” he stated.

Admonishing staff on hardwork and efficiency, the State President said: ‘I consider it necessary to encourage all members of staff to be more proactive, dutiful and committed in line of their duties. Each staff should put in their best to achieve the set goals of the BAO government. I also wish to enjoin all to keep improving themselves for optimal performance on the job”‘.

Expressing optimism for the new year, he said: ‘I am of the strong belief that this 2024 year shall be favourable to all staff and to the Local Government system and to the Union’. He however enjoined all to keep praying for the success of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) administration, as it is in his success that we can tap from, achieving desired prosperity and progress.

‘Once more dear Comrades, I welcome you into the new year, wishing you prosperity in all your involvements. I pray that the good Lord that brought us into the new year shall take us safely through the year without harm or loss. Ameno”
