The newly elected General Secretary of the Ekiti State Hoteliers Association, Olayinka Akomolafe, has expressed the association’s readiness to engage constructively with the state government to resolve the issue of multiple taxation affecting the hospitality sector.u
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday shortly after the election of new executives, Akomolafe identified excessive taxation as a major challenge facing the industry. According to him, “The hotel industry currently bears the highest burden of taxes and levies in the state. These multiple charges are adversely impacting the growth and development of the sector.”
Akomolafe called for a collaborative approach to address the issue, emphasizing the need for government intervention. “We believe that just as the Federal Government has worked with stakeholders to reform the national tax system, the Ekiti State Governor, who is known for his inclusive leadership style, will engage with us to find a lasting solution to this challenge,” he said.
He further assured that the newly inaugurated executive team is prepared to work closely with the government to ensure progress in the sector. “We are ready for constructive engagement with the state government. As partners in progress, our focus remains on advancing the interests of the hospitality industry, the state, and the society at large,” Akomolafe added.
The newly elected executive team is led by Stephen Abimbola as President, with Bar. Lucia Adetula as Vice President. Other officers include Olayinka Akomolafe (General Secretary), Olaosebikan Tope (Assistant General Secretary), Aduloju Kehinde (Financial Secretary), Akinwande Ajayi (Auditor), Olayinka Ogunyemi (Social Secretary), Ijigbo Yomi (Public Relations Officer), Ajayi Olufemi (Welfare Officer), Ogbona Paul (Treasurer), and Olubusola Olufemi (Chief Whip).
The new leadership has pledged to prioritize the interests of members and drive policies that will enhance the growth of the hospitality sector in Ekiti State.
