The Ekiti State Government, through it’s State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has sanctioned the head teacher of Saint Philips CAC Nursery and Primary School, Erio-Ekiti, Adeniyi Ayodele, for collecting illegal charges from pupils of the school.

Ekiti News reports that Prof. Femi Akinwumi, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, announced this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti.

The Head Teacher was relieved of his duties for two months with immediate effect due to the allegations.

Prof. Akinwumi stated that the decision was necessary after the head teacher confessed to committing the infraction and pleaded guilty to some of the allegations against him.

The SUBEB boss said, said, “The man has persisted in the illegal activity despite several warnings against such act which is a sabotage against the free and compulsory education policy of the present administration in the state.”

Prof. Akinwunmi revealed that evidence showed that the head teacher was collecting N25,000 from each of the 28 pupils in primary six and another N8,000 from each of the primary four pupils.

The SUBEB boss directed Ayodele to hand over to the most senior assistant head teacher who should be reporting at the SUBEB headquarters pending further determination of the case.
