The Ekiti State Government in collaboration with the National Office of Human Capital Development (HCD), Abuja, has convened a stakeholders engagement session aimed at bolstering human capital development in the state.
The day two of the three days workshop, held at the Sani Abacha Hall, Old Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti, have representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), traditional institutions, and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers.
Hon. Gbenga Agbeyo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Human Capital Development, who also serves as the HCD Focal Person in Ekiti, while speaking at the day two event emphasized the strategic importance of the workshop.
According to Agbeyo, the session was designed to foster collaboration between government agencies and stakeholders to develop innovative policies that will enhance human capital development, a cornerstone of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.
“HCD is a vital part of our administration’s agenda, It encompasses healthy nutrition, education, and labour force participation. Addressing these issues cannot be done in isolation; it requires the expertise and insights of all stakeholders.” Agbeyo stated.
The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff in her office, Mr. Victor Adeniyi, in her goodwill message called for deliberate and diligent efforts from participants.
She stressed that the outcomes of the workshop must shape policies that ensure optimal service delivery in the area of human capital development, reiterating the state’s commitment under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. M.O. Omolayo, through the Executive Secretary of the Board for Technical Vocational and Education, Dr. B.P. Ajayi, lauded the initiative, noting that human capital development is a crucial part of Governor Oyebanji’s transformation agenda.
He noted that the engagement was another step in Ekiti’s journey to reposition human capital development as a driving force for economic growth and societal progress, urging stakeholders to remain committed to implementing the workshop’s outcomes.
The workshop drew participants from various sectors, underscoring the Ekiti State Government’s determination to tap into the expertise of religious bodies, NGOs, and CSOs, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers to improve the overall well-being and prosperity of the state.
Meanwhile, the 3 Day workshop will be winding up tomorrow where stakeholders will be reviewing jointly,the initial draft document on human capital development plan.
