It was a moment of genuine admiration and accolades for Governor Oyebanji from pensioners and teachers both in the studio and on the phone. As pensioners shared their joy, teachers also couldn’t contain their happiness, testifying to the transformative governance of Governor BAO.
The two pensioners , Chief (Mrs)Remi Ademuagun and Baba Adeoye Aladegbami, expressed their gratitude and praised Governor Oyebanji for ensuring that Ekiti pensioners receive their entitlements promptly and efficiently. Beyond the timely payment of their monthly pensions, the governor commits 200 million naira monthly without any ceremony,to offset gratuities for both state and local government pensioners.
They emphasized that Governor Oyebanji in less than 2 years in office has cleared all pension arrears for state pensioners and also cleared three months of local government pension arrears . Furthermore, he has introduced a free healthcare scheme for all pensioners, regardless of age, demonstrating his commitment to their health and well-being, ensuring they live long to enjoy the fruits of their labour for the state.
Also , Mr. Olutayo Sunday Apalowo, a teacher, and Education Secretary for Ekiti East ,thanked former Governor Fayemi for giving Ekiti a God-fearing successor as Governor Oyebanji. He highlighted the governor’s tremendous support and love for Ekiti teachers in ensuring the timely payment of salaries, listening to their concerns, and meeting their demands.
He said the Governor is the first to introduce housing and car loans for primary school teachers in Ekiti stating that Mr Governor ensures regular capacity training and workshop for the teachers . He said all Education Secretaries have been equipped to function effectively including provision of official vehicles for all .
Mr Apalowo also said that Governor Oyebanji has consistently paid the 30,000 naira minimum wage to all teachers in the state and has increased running grants for schools. He has also recruited 1,500 teachers in primary, 500 in secondary and night guards in all schools for security and safety of pupils .
The Governor has started paying a decade-long backlog of leave bonuses owed to teachers. Additionally, over 200 secondary schools are undergoing massive renovations to create conducive learning environment. The governor has also conducted two different promotion exercises for teachers and has continued to pay monthly 15,000 naira palliative in addition to their regular salaries when other states have stopped .
The Director-General , Office of Community Communications, Mrs Mary Oso – Omotosho, responded to the notion that the Governor’s developmental efforts are aimed at securing a second term stating that Governor Oyebanji is a unique politician and experienced public servant with genuine love for Ekiti development who places Ekiti above every other thing .
She said the Governor’s priority is to fulfill his campaign promises to Ekiti people and even do more than he promised as well as uphold the trust Ekiti people have in him. Therefore , the Governor is not distracted by a second term bid.
