The Ekiti State Government has announced the implementation of traffic diversions earlier announced to mitigate traffic congestion, prevent accidents, and minimize interference with the construction of the Ado Ekiti flyover phase II.
The traffic diversions are scheduled to begin on Friday, March 1st, 2024.
This was contained in a statement from the office of the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, and made available to journalists on Thursday, in Ado Ekiti.
The Commissioner stressed that vehicular movement would be restricted along the stretch of the road from Okeyimi to Union Bank in Ijigbo and diverted to the announced alternate routes.
According to the statement, the diversion became essential to pave the way for the immediate commencement of construction works on the flyover bridge.
Highlighting the significance of the project for the state’s development, the Commissioner emphasized that the flyover will notably enhance traffic movement and stimulate socio-economic growth in the state capital.
Adebayo further noted that upon completion, the flyover will enhance residents’ quality of life.
The Commissioner assured that all necessary measures have been taken to minimize inconveniences of road users during the construction period and advised all stakeholders including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, vehicle passengers and public transporters to exercise patience and obey traffic rules in the interest of all.
Recall that the State Government had earlier announced that “traffic flow from Akure/Ikere road would have to divert through Agric Olope to Odo Ado to Poly Road to Oke-Ila to Afao road, Okuta Gbokuta to Stadium, Okeisha, Dallimore road while traffic movement from Fajuyi/Okeisha route are to go through the FirstBaptist Church (Adunni Olayinka drive) to Atikankan en route Oke-Bola to Little-by-Little Plaza/Access bank Ajilosun through Kay Kalax Hotel.
“Traffic from Ilawe road to Ikere road axis is diverted through Irona/Ekute to Mobil Ajilosun or Irona to Oke-Bola to Little-By-Little Plaza/Access Bank, Ajilosun by Kay Kalax Hotel and Post Office to King’s market becomes a normal two way drive.”
