…Salutes Governor Oyebanji’s promptness

As reactions grow over the recent rainstorm disaster across Ekiti State, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly has expressed deep concern and heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the unfortunate incident.

“The catastrophe has caused widespread destruction, leaving many residents in despair, with their homes, livelihoods, and public infrastructure severely impacted,” the Speaker lamented.

Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, in a press statement, commended the promptness of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in responding to the disaster and assuring strategic interventions, adding that that the State Assembly remains resolute in its oversight role and legislative actions to ensure the speedy provision of succour.

“As a legislative body, the House of Assembly remains committed to providing oversight, support, and the necessary legislative measures to facilitate swift recovery and relief efforts. We acknowledge and commend the swift and decisive actions taken by His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, who has assured the victims of his administration’s readiness to mitigate the effects of this disaster.”

He added that “the House of Assembly affirms its unwavering support and partnership with the executive to ensure that the needs of our people are addressed efficiently and compassionately.”

The parliament helmsman promised that engagements with emergency-related agencies at both the state and national levels would be maximized.

“We will continue engaging with relevant agencies such as the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure that victims receive the necessary support. Additionally, we are committed to considering legislative measures aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness, resilience, and sustainable development in our communities.”

Soliciting concerted support from stakeholders, Aribasoye urged victims not to give in to despair, as he called on key players and well-meaning individuals to sustain their support for the Oyebanji administration.

“While this disaster is severe, it does not define our future. With faith, unity, and divine guidance, we will rebuild our communities and restore normalcy. Our collective strength and unwavering spirit will turn this moment of despair into a testament of resilience and hope,” he added.
