The Government of Ekiti State has commenced the filling of potholes and general road repairs in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring that all roads in the state are in good condition and free of potholes before the rainy season commences.
Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Commissioner for Information, announced this development in Ado Ekiti. He stated that the rehabilitation works were initiated following the directive from Governor Biodun Oyebanji to ensure that all roads in poor condition are rehabilitated before the rainy season begins.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration in the State to facilitating a smooth flow of traffic, which would facilitate the easy transportation of goods and services, particularly agricultural products. He emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the dry harmattan season to repair the roads, as it would be considerably more difficult and costly to do so during the rainy season.
He highlighted the selected township roads currently undergoing repairs in the State capital to include Mathew – St Paul Anglican road, Mugbagba – St Paul Anglican road, Basiri – Nova Junction Adebayo road (opposite chicken Republic), Olukayode Stadium – Okuta Gbokutaleri road, Okebola – Access bank road via Little by Little plaza and Atikankan – Isato road.
Other roads being attended to are Oke Ila – Housing Corporation/Afao road, Oja Oba – Post Office road, Ijigbo Roundabout – Ilawe road, Mobil Rounabout –Ekute junction, Adebayo – AB Hotel – Housing Corporation junction road, Ajibade Lane – Orita Blessing road, Oladele Street in Awedele area, Oke bola – Union Baptist road, Oke Ila – Afao road extension as well as St Paul Anglican – Ado Grammar School road, NTA – New Iyin road and Adebayo road – Opposite Teaching Hospital.
Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, urged road users to exercise patience and obey traffic rules and diversions, stressing that the development is in their best interest as the resultant good road would make up for the slight inconveniences that may arise as a result of the construction work
