The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, participated in the Conference of Speakers’ meeting held at BON Hotel, Abuja, where he contributed to discussions on critical issues affecting the legislature and Nigeria’s democratic integrity.

A key focus of the conference was the political situation in Lagos and Rivers States, with members expressing concerns over the controversial removal of the Lagos State Speaker and the irregular legislative operations in Rivers State.

Discussions also centered on tax reforms, local government autonomy, and financial independence for state assemblies, underscoring the need for stronger legislative structures across the country.

As part of the engagements, Speaker Aribasoye joined other members of the conference executive, led by Chairman Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, in a meeting with the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The meeting focused on fostering productive collaboration between state legislatures and the executive for effective governance.
