The Government of Ekiti State is set to commence the construction of eight new road projects before the end of the year.
Ekiti News reports that Mr Adesola Adebayo, the Commissioner for Works, disclosed this on last week’s “Ekiti Loni/Ekiti Today” radio programme.
The Commissioner reaffirmed Ekiti State Government’s dedication to the well-being and prosperity of Ekiti State residents.
The planned road construction initiatives constitute part of a broader vision to create a more connected and accessible Ekiti State.
By addressing critical infrastructural needs, the government aim to stimulate local economies, reduce travel time, and improve overall living conditions for our people.
Below are the new road projects:
✅ Rehabilitation of Oke Ayedun – Ipao – Oke Ako – Irele Road in Ikole Local Government: to enhance rural connectivity and promote local economic activities in Ikole and its environs.
✅ Reconstruction of Awo – Ara – Ijero Road: to improve access and reduce travel time between these key towns and to facilitate commerce.
✅ Reconstruction of Ijan – Ise Road: to support local businesses and improve the quality of life for residents.
✅ Reconstruction of Ikogosi Township Road: to boost tourism by improving access to the Ikogosi Warm Springs.
✅ Reconstruction of Itawure – Okemesi – Ijero Road: to connect several communities and foster socio-economic development.
✅ Dualisation of Petim Road: to ease traffic congestion and enhance safety on one of the state’s key roads.
✅ Construction of Ajila Jakande Crescent Roads 10 & 13 in GRA 3rd Extension: to improve access within this growing residential area.
✅ Rehabilitation of De-Head – Basiri Road in Ado-Ekiti: to enhance urban infrastructure, supporting better movement within the state capital
Also recall that Senator David Umahi, the Minister of Works, recently made a state visit to evaluate the state of federal roads passing through Ekiti. This was to enhance the collaboration between the Federal Government and Ekiti State Government to ensure the rehabilitation and maintenance of all federal roads in Ekiti State.
In light of the dangerous condition of several federal roads, Mr. Adebayo called for their complete reconstruction instead of the ineffective annual patchwork repairs, citing examples such as the Igede-Aramoko-Itawure Road, the Omuo-Ilasa-Ayedun-Ikole Road, and the Ado-Ijan-Agbado Road.
Mr. Adebayo in his closing remark, reassured the public that his office would maintain its cooperative relationship with FERMA to respond swiftly to the terrible road conditions that exist throughout the state.
