Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has approved the payment of one billion naira in gratuity to retirees in the state as part of efforts to reduce the backlog of outstanding gratuities.
Ekiti News reports that the payment fulfills Governor Oyebanji’s promise to prioritize the welfare and well-being of workers and pensioners in the state.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode on Friday, in Ado- Ekiti.
According to the statement, the payment also aligns with the Governor’s pledge to implement a plan to offset the backlog of gratuities owed by previous administrations.
Governor Oyebanji urges senior citizens to remain calm and optimistic, assuring them that the government is committed to prioritizing their welfare, recognizing their contributions to the state’s development during their active years.
