Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s New Year broadcast as a wake-up call for workers in the public service to enhance service delivery for the effective implementation of the administration’s six-point agenda.
Ekiti News reports that during a prayer session organized to mark the beginning of work in the new year, Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun, addressing the staff of the Ministry of Information, encouraged civil servants to intensify their efforts in fulfilling their duties in the coming year.
The Commissioner stressed the commitment of Governor Oyebanji to the development of the State and the welfare of the people, adding that it would be rather difficult to achieve his vision without a corresponding commitment from the workforce.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun underscored the role of Information officers and allied staff to the success of the administration, saying that the Ministry has the stern responsibility of managing and disseminating Government’s information as well as obtaining feedback that help shape policies.
The Government’s spokesman explained that the Ministry owed the people of the State a responsibility of getting information on Government policies, programmes and activities in addition to getting feedback as part of the Governor’s agenda of good and inclusive governance.
Olatunbosun warned that while nobody would be left out in the scheme of things, laziness, truancy, tardiness, unnecessary distractions and other acts that may be inimical to the corporate existence of the Ministry would not be tolerated.
He assured that welfare of workers would continue to take the front burner while the work environment would be as conducive as possible within the available resources of the State.
Stressing the need for patience and understanding, Olatunbosun prayed for God’s blessings, wisdom, good health and strength for everyone in the new year.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olusesan Alabi pledged the unalloyed loyalty and commitment of workers in the Ministry to efforts of Governor Oyebanji administration to develop the State and improve the lot of the people.
Mr. Alabi however urged the staff to be creative and come up with ideas that could add value to the office.
He also advised them to shun acts that are antagonistic to a conducive work environment and are tantamount to waste of resources, stressing the need to remain focused and steadfast.
