The Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission has commenced the interview process across all the cadres in the local government service for the elevation of workers.
This follows the approval of Governor Biodun Oyebanji that 2022 and 2023 promotion arrears of qualified and eligible public servants be conducted without delay.
Ekiti News reports that the promotion exercise is in fulfillment of one of the administration’s cardinal Governance agenda to adequately motivate workers to deliver optimally in driving and implementing government’s programmes and policies, to fast-track the shared prosperity agenda of the governor.Â
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Information and Civic Orientation, Stanley A. Familoye on Wednesday, in Ado-Ekiti.
Addressing the eligible officers before the commencement of the exercise, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Samuel Alaba Abejide, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Titilayo Toba-Ojo, thanked the governor for the prompt approval of the promotion exercise, describing it as unprecedented in the annals of the state because promotion was usually delayed until the tail end of successive administrations.
According to the Chairman, the governor deserves commendation for fulfilling his electioneering promises to the public servants through adequate motivation by offsetting the salary arrears owed workers since 2018, prompt payment of salaries and allowances, gradual payment of leave allowances, release of housing and vehicle loans, and regular payment of pensions and gratuities benefits.
Chief Abejide charged the workers to be more diligent, dedicated and committed to their duties to ensure the success of the 6-Point Agenda of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji by embracing honest and hard work.
He assured the workers that his leadership of the Local Government Service Commission will continually motivate the workforce for optimal productivity at work, stressing that their career growth would be enhanced.
Responding on behalf of the workers, the Local Government Service Commission branch Chairman of NULGE, Comrade Olanrewaju Falade, promised the unalloyed support and absolute loyalty of the staff to the administration.
He thanked the governor for putting the welfare of workers and the people of the state as a priority in his governance strategy.
Meanwhile, the advancement, conversion and absorption of officers into the unified local government service follow immediately as part of the general promotion exercise to cater for the welfare needs of workers to improve performance output in the service.
