More information emerged about additional party and RTEAN members who sustained severe injuries in an attack by opposition party in Itaji Ekiti, Oye Local Government during a rally organized by Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Ekiti State Chapter in support of the APC.
Additional victims were revealed following the publication of the financial support earlier given to the widows and brother of those who lost their lives in the attack.
Upon receiving the information about additional party members who were victims of the Itaji attack, Governor Oyebanji instantly released more funds which was disbursed to the victims yesterday, Monday, through the Office of Community Communications, Governors Office.
The victims; Omofele Temitope Martins aka ‘Omo-Oba’, Ayodeji Ojo and John Christopher who became teary as they narrated their experiences in the ugly incident appreciated Governor Oyebanji for distinguishing himself as a politician with conscience who never forgets the sacrifices of party members.
While one of the victims has recovered from his injuries, two are in the healing process as they still have bullets in their bodies.
Delivering the financial support on behalf of the Governor, Director-General, Office of Community Communications, Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotosho emphasized Governor Oyebanji’s gratitude for their sacrifices, affirming that Mr Governor values their contributions immensely and promised to stand with them through their recovery journey.
She also expressed appreciation to Mr Kokoirin Olayinka for being a selfless party man who looks out for fellow party faithfuls as he was the one who called attention on the additional victims.
