A 45-year-old man, Tajudeen Olaleye, has been remanded in prison by an Ekiti State Magistrates’ Court over the alleged murder of a mediator in a fight.
Yomi Osuolale, the Police prosecutor, Inspector informed the court on Thursday that the defendant committed the offence on March 10, in Otun Ekiti, in the Moba Local Government Area of the state.
The Prosecutor alleged that the defendant murdered one Mrs Rasaki Taibat.
“There was a fight between the defendant and someone in the neighbourhood. The deceased tried to mediate between the two parties; in the process, the defendant stabbed her with a bottle, which led to her death.
“The offence contravened Section 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2012,” he said.
Osuolale urged the court to remand the defendant at the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele in her rulling, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre, Ado- Ekiti pending the issuance of legal advice.
The Magistrate adjourned the case till April 25 for mention.
